Looking at the communities I socialize with, I’m starting to realize how I act differently in each group. (This is called code-switching) As I understood the slight differences in what jokes to make, where we choose to eat out, and what topics to discuss. I realized why I am so conflicted with what I want to tell because not everyone will ever be able to relate to my story. And even though I am okay with that, I am still participating in these groups. That’s why deep down I want them to participate with me as well as without the need to change my story fitted within the narrative they are accustomed to. I understand that this is not a simple issue to solve and that’s why people like me who participate in multiple communities code switch. tell a story that people can relate to.
